But, when I started spending more time on C Corner, I realized there is a better way to spend your time in a "better" or "productive" way while you are using internet. Now, I have a habit of spending daily an hour or so on C Corner and I try to read articles on latest technologies and update my knowledge. I like the "Answers" section where I can go and post answer to someone's problem. This way it has helped me in brushing up my technical knowledge in different fields too. Prior to joining C Corner community, when I faced problems with Windows Forms application programming, I used to try solving them with the help of the internet but the number of expected answers was very limited. The word loanword is itself a calque of the German Lehnwort. Loanwords can also be called "borrowings". English has many loanwords. In 1973, a computerized survey of about 80,000 words in the old Shorter Oxford Dictionary 3rd edition was published in Ordered Profusion by Thomas Finkenstaedt and Dieter Wolff. Their estimates for the origin of English words were as follows:Coinage is the invention of totally new words. Of course, when we think about the big money and glamour of the college game, were really thinking about the elite teams. What fans rarely see, and almost never think about, is how the game operates in the hundreds of smaller programs where players run even greater risks with no chance of going pro. I am of course a total effing hypocrite when it comes to college football, because over the past five years Ive become increasingly sucked in by the Stanford team, which is not my alma mater but where I sold hot dogs and watched John Elway gallivant so many years ago. The reason I got interested in the team was pathetically predictable: They got very good. Last year, I decided to stop watching them. I kept seeing players get concussed during games, which I find more disturbing at the college level because Ive actually taught undergraduates. It also dawned on me that the Stanford administration had made the disheartening decision to build an elite football program apparently because being an academically revered university wasnt cutting it with the folks in corporate branding. Then again, Ive never felt an insane devotion to the college game, like Evan, a respected endocrinologist who runs a medical research lab at Harvard. I think of Evan as the kind of guy who does not suffer fools, or foolishness.
